I don't care about pain, I only care about skinny jeans and bikinis
I got totally sucked in by an infomercial that promised 30 mins a day workout was all I had to do for amazing results. This really appealed to me as I'm not a gym bunny who loves to slog on a treadmill or pose in front of the mirror with free weights. I want to get it done and get on with things......but also see results!
So what is my fitness weapon of choice? Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. I've never watched the Biggest Loser but had read a few reviews online about her as a trainer and specifically this DVD.
This is a 90 day programme split into three phases each lasting four weeks and the 30 minute workouts get progressively harder. It combines use of hand weights and a resistance band with short bursts of cardio. The pack cost £99 and comes with 7 day kick start your metabolism plan, the 90 days fitness schedule, a full 90 day food plan, a food journal and the resistance band. I had to purchase the hand weights but you can get these at various places quite inexpensively. This was the same amount for 3 months gym membership but I can get a lot more use out of this.
As I mentioned I like to hibernate in winter so I thought working out at home could be the answer. The only thing is I was not sure whether I would get bored with a DVD so wanted to try this out. That was 7 weeks ago! I didn't intend to 'try' it out for so long but I enjoyed it so much I have not stopped. This workout though only 30 minutes literally kicks my butt and I love it. The progression in the workouts means I do not get bored. More importantly this workout is making a difference to my fitness. Over the weeks I have noticed my progress and exercises that were previously difficult have become easier, I'm talking about you Mr Burpee ( that sounds like some weird Mr Men character:D)
I have to say I like her. She does what I want my trainers too, motivate me and challenge me. Come on whose going to pay for someone to say " oh if you find this one tough you can sit this one out?"
Instead she says " I don't care if you are in pain, all I care about is skinny jeans, bikinis and sex with the lights on!" ;DThis is a 90 day programme split into three phases each lasting four weeks and the 30 minute workouts get progressively harder. I haven't used the diet plan provided though. The reason being is that although I love that it provides you with what to eat for the whole programme, I need to figure out how to make this work for my family. Yes it would be great to eat different meals each day but also expensive. I need to have a couple of meal options from the ingredients I buy to avoid waste.
Im also annoyed I didn't take my measurements at the start. My clothes definitely fit me better but it would be nice to have the inches recorded. However, whilst I am currently on the week 8 workout. I intend to start this DVD over once completed. Maybe then I'll take pictures and measurements for comparison.
The workouts provide you with options for all fitness levels. If you are new to exercise there are moderated versions to help you build up, if you are super fit - they provide ways to go that extra mile. Bizarrely I find the exercises for the back, biceps, hamstrings and glutes easier. I also find the short bursts of cardio easier to maintain although 1 minute of jumping can seem like a lifetime.
As with any fitness programme you need to be disciplined and fortunately I know myself well enough to know when I have that little bit more in me but also when I really should stop and not just because my head is telling me too.
This workout has really provided me with NO EXCUSES but to work out and I'm really pleased I have a healthier solution to my sloth like hibernation state. Fingers crossed when summer arrives i'll be a more slimmed down, fitter healthier version of myself.
